Toto musician Jeff Porcaro's widow Susan Porcaro-Goings claims that two of his bandmates colluded to lowball his estate on royalties the band, most famed for its 1983 song Toto, have earned.Porcaro-Goings has filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Steven Lukather and David Paich, claiming they engaged in fraud and unjust enrichment in their business dealings with her, according to NBCLA.Porcaro-Goings is asking the court to force Lukather and Paich to show the band's financial numbers, and issue an injunction against them to cease 'future acts of unfair competition,' according to the outlet.Porcaro-Goings, who has a background in broadcasting and politics, claims she was handling his estate - and should have been forwarded proper royalties - but Lukather and Paich have not provided her with an accurate accounting of the band's income.Porcaro-Goings told the court that her late husband came up with the group's name and was a co-writer with Paich on the band's biggest hit, Africa. The band is also well-remembered for singles such as 1978's Hold The Line and 1982's Rosanna.In his impressive career, Porcaro worked with musical icons including Paul McCartney, Elton John and Eric Clapton, according to Pearl Drums.The Grammy-winning drummer and songwriter suffered a fatal heart attack on August 5, 1992, leaving behind his wife of 10 years and three sons - Christopher, Miles, and Nico.The Los Angeles County coroner's office said that his arteries had hardened due to cocaine use, the Los Angeles Times reported in September of 1992, clashing with a rep's statement that Porcaro had fallen ill after he inhaled an insecticide while doing yardwork.
In another family tragedy, Porcaro's son Miles died at the age of 31 last fall, with Porcaro-Goings opening up about how she was heartbroken and 'devastated' in an emotional memorial she posted on Facebook.'My Miles is gone. He's now in heaven with his Daddy,' she said on October 4, 2017, the date of his death. 'I hope you are now at peace. And, I hope that one day I, and your brothers, and all of your family members and friends, who loved you so much, can find peace and understanding.'
